How to Effectively Treat Acne With Benzoyl Peroxide

I’m pretty sure if you suffer from acne you have at some point in time tried skin products containing benzoyl . You will find that most of the over the counter acne products contains some percentage of benzoyl peroxide.

Unfortunately many people overlook benzoyl peroxide in favour of stronger prescribed medication simply because they do not believe it to be as . However in my experience it can be extremely in clearing up acne in the majority of cases, except perhaps for severe acne or cysts.

But what concentration of benzoyl peroxide is both effective and safe for my skin?

In my personal opinion I would start with products containing 2.5% benzoyl peroxide. I find that this concentration is easily as effective as the 5 or 10% concentrations without that horrible dryness and irritation you may get with the higher concentrations. I have extremely sensitive skin which would be so itchy and irritated the 5 or 10% concentrations.

How does benzoyl peroxide work?

Benzoyl peroxide works by introducing oxygen into the pores, destroying the acne bacteria as it cannot survive in an aerobic (oxygen rich) environment. Another reason why it is effective is that it can help rid follicles of excess dead skin cells which is a major factor in the formation of acne.

The problem people have with benzoyl peroxide (and many other treatments) is that they don’t stick with the treatment long enough, or they simply stop using it when the the acne appears to be improving. This can then cause the acne bacteria to begin multiplying again, and you are back at square one.

Should I use a wash containing BP?

It really depends on your skin type. Personally I have dry, sensitive skin which tightens up if I use any acne face-wash or soap, and so can only use mild cleansers or washes. Regardless of your skin type I would recommend using a mild face-wash, after which you can apply your benzoyl peroxide treatment.

I never use the likes of Clearasil or Neutragena as my skin resembles sandpaper after washing. I also had a bad reaction to a supposedly “mild” Neutragena face-wash, which burnt the skin around my eyes. That was almost eight years ago, and I still have the marks under my eyes.

How should I apply Benzoyl Peroxide?

It is important to introduce the treatment to your skin in small increments. Start with a small amount (roughly pea-sized amount) of the 2.5% concentration and apply ALL over the face.

People often dab the gel onto individual pimples which may dry out the spot, but it won’t prevent new ones from forming. We want to eliminate and prevent new acne from forming, not simply treat existing acne.

Take particular care not to apply the benzoyl peroxide too vigorously, as excessive irritation can cause breakouts. Also be careful not to apply near the eyes as the skin around the eye is particularly delicate.

It is important to cleanse your face gently and allow to fully dry before applying a thin layer of benzoyl peroxide. I find it best to apply the treatment in the morning and then just before bed, but remember to apply to ALL acne prone areas, not just individual spots.

You may notice initial redness which can take a couple of weeks to clear, but your skin will soon acclimatise to the treatment. After two or three weeks you can double the amount of benzoyl peroxide and you shouldn’t notice any irritation.

Do I need to moisturize?

I believe you should always moisturize after applying any treatment as they can often cause dry skin, especially when using for the first time. Just remember that it has to be a non-comedogenic moisturizer and does not contain lanolin, petroleum, butyl stearate or sodium laural sulphate.

Moisturizing prevents over-drying of the skin, which can in turn lead the sebaceous glands to produce more sebum as it tries to keep the skin moisturized, thus leading to acne. I have always had dry skin and suffered with acne. It’s not just people with oily skin that are prone to acne.

Back Acne Treatment – 3 Things An Acne Sufferer Did To Treat His Back Acne

There aren’t many back acne treatment products these days that work. I don’t have to tell you that though, as you’ve probably already tried many of them.

Like you, Mat has tried many different treatments that all promised that they were the cure to his problem. And even though a lot of them showed temporary signs of working, in the end, they all did nothing for him and his acne would come right back.

He hated having acne. Was so frustrated that he had it while none of his friends did. This made going to pool parties and the beach very difficult.

How could he go out in public and not have people stare at the acne on his back? He couldn’t, and it frustrated the crap out of him.

With dermatologist it was always the same thing. Here’s a cream, come back in 3 months. He wasn’t even sure if they knew what they were doing.

He went through Accutane and decided to never do that one again.

Tired of looking for cures for back acne, Mat started trying cures that would enable him to solve the problem from the inside of his body, where the problem was coming from, rather than at the surface of the skin.

Mat started using three different back acne treatment techniques that really showed great results for him.

He started exercising on a regular basis. Not being in great shape, he started walking, then jogging until he could actually play sports with friends that required him to do a lot of running. While he lifted weights once and awhile, he found that running gave him the best results.

Mat made this fun for himself by hanging out with friends playing sports and doing activities that he loved. And was able to treat his acne at the same time by getting rid of excess hormones in his body by doing these activities.

He cut out greasy foods from his diet. As the saying goes “you are what you eat” Mat decided that he didn’t want half of what the foods had in them eventually coming through his skin, so he decided to cut them out.

It takes a strong person to do this, but if you’re willing to get rid of your acne, there are some that you just have to cut out.

Another thing he did was stop stressing out. After learning that stress actually causes the body to create more hormones that later could lead to acne, he decided that it was something he needed to deal with.

By simply unwinding at the end of the day by watching some kind of comedy, or comedian and avoiding situations that caused more stress (when avoidable) really helped him.

Different Ways To Treat Acne That Actually Work!

There are many treatments that you can apply when you have a skin condition like acne. And these ways to treat acne are according to proper application and the choice of treatment for your particular case:

1. Maintain proper skin hygiene

You should wash your skin twice a day. This will prevent the pathogenic organisms from building up on your skin. We know that this skin condition is caused by clogged pores which are inhibited by bacteria. Thorough and gentle washing is what is needed.

2. Exercise regularly

Most people usually think that the ways to treat acne include creams, lotions, soap or pills only, without knowing that working out can also be effective. If you have clogged pores, sweating is an excellent way to push out those bacteria and dirt which blocks the skin pores. Along with the sweat, the dead skin cells from our epidermis and secretions from sebaceous glands (sebum) will surface to the outer layer of our skin every time we exercise.

3. Resort to drug medications

We all hear that many drugs for this skin condition have their corresponding side effects. Therefore, you must be careful what to take or what you apply to your skin. In deciding, you have to consider what type your skin is (its sensitivity) and the severity of your condition. for those who are still experimenting, you can start by using essential oils. These oils are easily absorbed by our skin and it can dissolve oil buildup and kill the bacteria.

This skin disease may take a long time to heal (3-4 years or even up to 8-12 years). Thus, you must be patient and a high consistency of treatment is highly recommended. Choose from among the many ways to treat acne, and maintain a routine that suits you and your condition.

How To Treat Acne – Adult Acne

Teen acne and adult acne are analyzed as skin problems. While some of the symptoms may be similar, adult acne benefits from several treatment options that teenagers cannot use. For example, women can use medication such as Diane that also plays the role of an oral contraceptive pill. If girls took this medication, they would have serious problems with the hormone levels. Even though these drugs also work as a contraceptive, they should not be used for this purpose primarily. Such medication is recommended for severe forms of acne that cannot be treated with oral antibiotics.

Adults can also make use of over-the-counter medication to get rid of acne. There are products that unblock the pores, eliminate bacteria and help the pimples to dry out. Most of these products are based on benzoyl , salicylic acid, sulfur or resorcinol.

Besides over-the-counter drugs, adults can also use prescription medication. However, in order to buy these drugs, they need to acquire a prescription from a dermatologist. The prescription medication usually plays two roles. First of all, acne is eliminated and the secondarily, the growth of healthy skin gets stimulated. Lowering the testosterone levels seems to have effect in women with acne.

Another treatment option for adult acne is represented by laser resurfacing. However, this treatment is recommended for the most severe forms of acne. Laser resurfacing represents one of the best ways to get rid of the that are produced by acne in the later stages. This treatment also promotes the growth of new healthy derma.

Before proceeding to laser resurfacing, however, it is a good idea to try microdermabrasion. This sand blasting method allows cleaning up the minor blemishes that are produced by this skin problem. Substances such as salicylic acid or glycolic unblock the skin pores, destroy the blackheads and the whiteheads and promote the growth of healthier skin.

An even better solution is to combine the available treatment options in order to increase the efficiency of the remedy. For example, it is good to use a cleanser and then a salicylic acid treatment. The cleanser should contain benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid in order to provide the expected results. The salicylic acid treatment will help people to clean their pores. This treatment should be used 2 or 3 times every 7 days.

It is a known fact that it is far better to than to treat. Thus, picking or squeezing acne must not be done in order to this skin condition from becoming worse. When people who suffer from inflammatory acne or pustules squeeze it, they force the infected area to become even greater.

As people can see, there are plenty of treatment options for adult acne. Most of them are based on salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide, as these seem to represent the best approach. Some people may also want to try several homemade remedies. Alternative cuisine comes with effective treatment options, too. These remedies may be chosen when discovering that the prescription medication has undesired side-effects.

Homemade Acne Treatment – How To Treat Acne Using Home Made Remedies

Dermatologists are of the belief that acne is a function of some hormonal imbalance in the body and this is usually a hereditary factor. Acne is caused when the oils that are supposed to lubricate the body are clogged up in the skin pores and are infested with bacteria.

This leads to the bumps and may spread by a couple of means. One of the means by which it spreads is by bursting it with the hand. This actually spreads the bacteria. That is why you will find out that every lesion you burst, there is a couple more that will break out the next day.

Acne is very common and it is often found on the face. It can happen on the back and chest area too. For those who have acne on their back and none on their face, it is probably because you do not wash up your back very well when you take your bathe. This coupled with the fact that the back is always covered up with cloth, heat is generated and sweats roll. The same cloth helps to transmit the bacteria all around your back or chest and soon, there will be breakouts of acne.

acne treatment can be very if you know exactly what to do. As much as there are many acne treatments that can be purchased readily over the counter, it is usually very hard to find one that works perfectly for everyone. This is because there is no general or universal acne treatment that is known, you will just have to find out for yourself. This is why you see people changing creams and treatments and having less success. If you probably have tried all your best and is tired of all the over the counter treatments, you can try the homemade acne treatment.

Homemade acne treatment include things you can do to reduce the breakout of acne. With the full knowledge of what causes acne, it is clear that if you were living underwater where there is no heat, no oil and no sweat, you will not have acne. And since you are not living underwater, you will have to make provisions to make your body as cool as you can. This requires that you take your bath for at least twice daily; after which you use astringents such as teat tree oil and lemon juice to run the area.

In all, make sure you reduce heat as much as possible. If your face or body is constantly cooled up, you will have less of acne.

How To Get Rid Of Acne Naturally And Fast – This Is How To Treat Acne The Natural Way!

Acne is a skin condition that causes whiteheads, blackheads and inflamed red lesions that are commonly called pimples or zits. Acne usually appears on the face and shoulders, but it can also occur on the arms, legs and buttocks. Acne is most common in teenagers, but can occur at any age, even in infants. 3 out of 4 teenagers suffer from this condition to some extent, due to hormonal changes that stimulate the production of sebum. What is more, people in their 30s and 40s may also have acne.

Acne occurs when the pores that exist at the surface of the skin get clogged. Each pore is an opening to sebaceous glands. Normally, the oil secreted by the gland helps to keep the skin lubricated and helps to remove old skin cells. But, when the glands produce too much oil, pores can become blocked and may start accumulating dirt and bacteria. The blockage causes a lesion that may be white (whitehead), or black (blackhead). If this lesion breaks, then the material that is inside, including oil and bacteria, can spread to the surrounding area and cause an inflammatory reaction. If the inflammation occurs deep inside the skin, the pimples may become enlarges and form painful cysts.

Acne Foods To Eat And To Avoid – How To Naturally Treat Acne With Diet And Home Remedies!

Acne commonly begins puberty and usually affects more boys than girls. It’s not considered to be a hereditary disease, but it seems that if the parents have suffered from this condition when they were young, their children are more likely to suffer as well. The cause of acne is the excessive production of sebum, which blocks the pores of the skin. Due to the enlargement of the pores that are clogged by sebum, dead skin cells and bacteria begin to accumulate below the surface of the skin, which eventually leads to inflammation.

There are several factors that can make acne worse, such as:

Excessive sweatingHormonal changes caused by menstruation, and even the use of the contraceptive pill that can affect acne in a negative way. Some medications such as corticosteroids and some antiepileptic drugs.Environmental causes: external contaminants such as industrial products, detergents or soaps can sometimes be the cause of this disease.

The recommended diet to combat this condition:

Avoid eating fatty and reduce the intake of vegetable oils.Avoid sausages, chocolates, ice cream and butter.Do not eat too many simple carbohydrates such as bread and starches, but prefer whole grains.Consume rich in vitamin A and vitamin B3, such as carrots, apricots and fresh fruits in general..Take supplements, such as brewer’s yeast and lecithin.

A natural remedy against acne:

Aloe Vera has many applications and has being used since ancient times to heal wounds. Aloe Vera has many benefits:

It eliminates clogged pores due to the combination of amino acids and polysaccharides that transform the oil that clogs the pores into a “soapy” substance that can be easily removed with daily cleaning. This deep pore cleansing remedy helps the skin to maintain an adequate level of moisture. It is an astringent that has the ability to thoroughly clean the three layers of the skin.It regulates pH, due to its content of amino acids and other elements like sodium, potassium, iron, zinc, etc. This stimulates the reproduction of skin cells and the replacement of old cells with new ones and significantly delays aging. It nourishes the epithelial cells through the absorption of vitamins and polysaccharides, which stimulate the regeneration of new cells, keeping the skin fresh and youthful. It has regenerative properties based primarily on certain vitamins (like vitamin A, B1, B2, B6 and B12) and plant sugars that make the elastic fibers in the dermis more flexible, strengthen the collagen fibers and stimulate the epithelial cells.

Tips On How To Treat Acne During Pregnancy Right From Home

Pregnant women experience a whole lot of body changes right from the time fertilization takes place in the womb. There are common changes or signs seen in all women and there are some that are peculiar. For instance, every pregnant woman will develop hips and bigger breasts as the foetus grows but not all will have nausea and not all will experience acne during pregnancy. If you suddenly see outburst of acne on your face during your pregnancy, do not panic, it is just one of those signs that may be peculiar to you.

Acne during pregnancy, as well as other ailments such as eczema and rashes come to be as a result of the lowering of the immunity of the mother so as to provide proper protection for the growing baby in the foetus. As soon as the baby is delivered, the body immunity is restored to normal and acne will definitely disappear. However, while you are waiting for the day of delivery, there are still some basic things to do to help reduce the possible discomfort that acne brings.

First, make sure you take your bath as often as you can. Acne breakouts are largely attributed to excessive build up of oils beneath the skin. If you allow less of oil on your body, there will hardly be something for bacteria to act upon and there will be fewer breakouts on your skin.

Second, always make sure you do not burst the pimple. Bursting the pimple will increase the chances of having acne scars as well as increase the chances of more breakouts. You will need to this by all means no matter how much urge you feel at bursting it. If you however must burst a pimple, make sure you wash off the affected part immediately with tepid water and abrasive soap and wipe dry.

Thirdly, avoid harsh exercises. You can do mild ones though. You must try to reduce the rate of perspiration by all means since the bacteria that infects body oils is mostly generated by body sweat. The less you sweat the less of breakouts you will experience.

How To Treat Acne Naturally At Home – Find Out How To Get Rid Of Acne The Natural Way!

Acne is a very common disease of the skin that is caused by the inflammation of the sebaceous glands and the hair follicles. The lesions are mainly found on the skin of the face, neck, chest and shoulders. Nearly six out of ten people, aged between 12 and 24 years suffer from acne. Usually this disease is a major cause of social embarrassment, as it occurs at an age when children begin to become very sensitive about their physical appearance.

Causes of Acne:

Hormones play a key role in the appearance of the disorder. It seems that there is an increased secretion of androgens in acne sufferers and it is a known fact that androgens stimulate the production of sebum by the sebaceous glands. This correlation between hormonal changes and the onset of this condition is proved by the fact that the problem appears mainly adolescence, a phase of life when the person goes through a complete mental and physical transformation. The overproduction of sebum (seborrhea) is of great importance, since sebum contains comedogenic substances (fatty acids) capable of causing the appearance of pimples.

Under normal conditions, the sebum produced by the sebaceous glands acts as a shield against bacteria and parasites in general. In those predisposed to acne however, the sebaceous glands show an increased activity that can cause the appearance of this skin disease.

There are also indications that psychological factors may cause this disorder. Adolescence is a period characterized by strong emotions. These emotions may alter the balance of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal cortex, causing the release of androgen hormones.

There is reason to believe that acne can be caused by poor nutrition or chronic constipation. The excessive intake of starches, sugars, fried foods and fats and the consumption of tea, coffee, tobacco and alcohol may also trigger this condition. As far as constipation is concerned, it seems that if the intestines do not function properly, blood circulation becomes overloaded with toxic substances that may aggravate this problem.

remedies for acne:

Aloe Vera: it has been used to burns for a long time and is also an excellent natural remedy for pimples. Just apply the aloe vera gel on the affected areas of the skin.Vitamins: vitamin A and niacin are used successfully to pimples. Take 100mg of niacin or 50,000 units of vitamin A, three times a day.Zinc: it is a very effective remedy to combat acne, even the severe cases. You can take therapeutic doses of 50mg three times daily for one month, and then reduce the dosage to 25mg.Garlic: rub raw garlic on pimples several times a day. The external use of garlic helps to clean the skin from pimples and blackheads. Even ingesting three cloves of raw garlic daily can help purify the blood and eliminate pimples.

What NOT To Do To Treat Acne

Acne is often thought of as a “teenage problem”, something only the teens have to deal with and go through. However, this isn’t true, and there are many people who get acne early, and carry it on throughout adulthood. And this can be a problem, especially for image conscious people who rely on their looks for their profession and livelihood. Luckily, there are many so-called best acne treatments available, whether online or over the counter, that can help. But as with most treatments and medications, even the best can be rendered ineffective if people don’t take precautions, or do many wrong things the treatment of acne.

Here’re some of the things you shouldn’t do when treating acne.

First, do not use oil based make-up products, creams, or ointments, to hide or acne. Many people, both and men, may try to, in an effort to conceal and hide acne, use make up, and lots of it. Or, some may immediately grab some miracle cream they saw on TV or one that’s lying on the shelf at home, and use it. This is not advisable, because the oils can greatly aggravate the existing acne, making it worse and causing complications to happen. These can include redness, irritation, and more.

Next, as much as it might be tempting, do not rub, squeeze, or pick on acne pustules. There are people that just can’t resist popping acne, but this is a bad idea. Not only does it cause intense pain in some cases, but it can also open the skin up for infection, making the problem even worse if it does. So as much as the pustules look very “ripe” for the picking, leave them alone.

When washing the face, do not use beauty soaps, moisturizers, or facial washes. These may include oils and chemicals that, may be good in cleaning the skin, but can cause complications when used on acne. There’re medicated soaps specifically designed for people with acne, and these are more sensitive and safe for the face. Use these instead.

And being very healthy and having a healthy lifestyle greatly help treat acne. First, sleeping regular hours can help, because sleeping improperly can trigger the body to release hormones and chemicals that may aggravate the appearance of acne. In addition, changing the diet to include lots of fresh fruits, vegetables, juices, and other healthy detoxifying items can help alleviate acne, and augment the effects of the medication being taken.

Lastly, is to make sure that the instructions in using the acne treatment are followed properly and regularly. If all of these are done, people can expect good things to come from the acne treatment, and may just be the answer to all the acne problems.

Whats Wrong With Your Back Acne Treatment? How To Treat Back Acne Effectively

Have you ever wondered why there are so many different back acne regimes on the market… and why non of them really work to clear away the acne on your back for good?

I’ve wondered that… and I’m sure you have to.

So, why is it that year after year so many different products come out on the market. Truly, I feel like every time I turn on the T.V. I see some new “acne cure” thats suppose to save everyone from their red embarrassing spots and all I have to do is whip out my credit card.

Theres a problem with the back acne treatment market… its not curing acne. But why? Its not that we don’t use enough miracle products. No, its something else.

You know when you go to the doctors when your sick, and they prescribe you something to fight against the cause… can you imagine if they only gave you medicine to fight off the symptoms of being sick and left the root of the problem alone? You would never get better, the problem would always be there.

This is kind of what has happened to the acne market. A product is made so that when you break out you’ll rush to the store or pick up the phone to buy it, the acne, then a week later buy something new because it isn’t working anymore.

So what do you have to do to treat back acne effectively?

If your parents were anything like mine, they probably had you pulling weeds as a kid. If they didn’t, consider yourself lucky. I remember that if I didn’t pull the weeds from the roots they would just come right back…

Acne is like a weed… if you don’t treat it at its root you will only have to deal with it again later.

So if your looking for a back acne treatment that works you’ll need to find one that treats the acne from the inside of the body.

A couple you can do in the meantime to help with your acne, is to start eating healthier. I’m not saying become a health nut, just lay off of the greasy, high in fat . Not only will it help you have a better, clearer looking skin, eating healthy will give you more energy and not to mention a longer life span.

Wash your hair often. I know this sounds like a crazy bit of advice, but not all of us do it regularly… I’m looking at you guys. When we don’t wash our hair, the oil and dirt from our hair tends to run down our neck, shoulders and back. This can lead to more acne. So do yourself a favor and take 2 minutes to wash up a little bit more while in the shower.
