Beat Mother Nature with Cheek and Chin Surgery
Cheek and Chin Implants
Cheek or chin implants are frequently considered by many men and women who have a weak or receding chin, and would like a more strongly defined jawline or beautifully defined cheeks. If you are looking for betterment, not perfection, in your appearance and are realistic in your expectations, you may find that a facial implant is the right choice for you.
Cheek Implants:
Cheek implant (cosmetic surgery) usually takes about one and a half hours. It introduces silicone implants to help regain a plump, youthful look. An incision is made either below the lower lash line or on the inside of the mouth through which a cheek implant is inserted. To create a high cheekbone, the implant is inserted into the upper cheek. To help fill out or plump a sunken face, the implants are inserted into the mid cheek region.
- Cheek implants improve and enhance facial contours. They extend more balance to your face and features so that you feel better about the way you look.
- They may help strengthen your jawline or bring your chin or cheekbones into balance with the rest of your face.
- Implants may also be used to fill out a face that appears “sunken” or tired, or you may wish to have implants placed over your cheekbones to help restore a more youthful appearance.
Chin Implant Surgery (Mentoplasty)
If a receding chin causes a problem in the balance of the face, or you would prefer your chin to be a slightly different size or shape, chin implants are an effective solution, producing features that are better proportioned and more balanced.
Chin surgery (plastic surgery) is a surgical procedure to reshape the chin either by enhancement with an implant or reduction surgery on the bone.
- Insertion of a chin implant may take anywhere from 45 minutes to one hour.
- Your surgeon will select the proper size and shape implant to enhance your appearance and insert it into a pocket over the front of the jawbone.
- The small incision to create the pocket and insert the implant is placed inside the mouth (along the lower lip) or in the skin just under the chin area.
Chin implant surgery helps provide a harmonious balance to your facial features so that you feel better about the way you look.
Your expectations and how you would like to look must be clearly expressed and understood when you discuss with your cosmetic surgeon prior either both or one of the above two procedures.
It is normal to experience swelling and bruising which should settle down within two weeks. Usually you will need one to two weeks off work to speed up your recovery.
